The “Open wine cellars” event, on 1 May, is very well known in Zurich for many years now. However, did you know that in the area of the Vins de la Cote AOC, on the weekend of 23 and 24 May, for the sixth time, a similar event will be taking place?
Wine enthusiasts, like us, who until now had no plans for that weekend, can change this. In just under 2 hours by train, you are in the beautiful Waadland with lots of wine cellars for you to discover. When I think on Waadländer wine, the firstthing that comes to mind is a fresh, fruity Chasselas, refreshing with pleasant acidity, and perfectly suited for a cool evening on the terrace. Specialties from Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Gewürtraminer always bring forth surprises. The red wines of Pino Noir, Gamay, Gamaret, Garanoir, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes are also waiting to introduce themselves to you, coming with great potential. Confirmed since 2014, at the Grand Prix du Vin Suisses and expanded through the award of the best “bio Suisses” wine from Gamaret in barrels from the Château Rochefort, Allaman Grand Cru 2011th. The Chateau Rochefort is of course there and opens its doors
